How to train your agent with a Knowledge Base
Give your AI agent the facts it needs to answer: add custom text, questions and answers, or files, and save them.
Last updated 20 days ago
The Knowledge Base holds the facts your agent uses to answer: opening hours, prices, policies, product details. Your prompt says how the agent behaves; the Knowledge Base says what it knows. In this guide, you'll add knowledge in three ways.
Before you start: Create the agent first. See How to create a new agent.
Step 1: Open the Knowledge Base
In the left menu, open Agents and select your agent. In the tabs at the top of the agent, open Knowledge. You'll see three ways to add knowledge: Custom Text, Q&A Pairs and File Upload. Use one or combine them.
Step 2: Add custom text
Select Custom Text and write or paste the information in the box. Plain text and markdown both work as formats. Under the box, a counter shows how many characters you've added.

Tip: Write one fact per line. Short, specific facts are easier for your agent to find than long paragraphs.
Step 3: Add questions and answers
Select Q&A Pairs and click Add. Write a question the way your customers ask it, and the answer your agent should give. Click Add again for each new pair. To remove one, click the X on its card.

Step 4: Upload files
Select File Upload. Drag your files into the box, or click it to choose them from your computer.
Formats: PDF, DOCX, TXT and CSV.
Limits: up to 10 files, 10 MB per file, and 20 MB in total.
Each file appears under Uploaded files as Pending until you save. The counter shows how many files and megabytes you've used. To remove a file, click its X.

Tip: Use a CSV file for price lists, catalogs or FAQs that you already keep in a spreadsheet.
Step 5: Save your changes
Click Update below the Knowledge Base. The button appears as soon as you change something.
Done
Your agent is able to answer with the information you added. Test it with questions your customers ask, and add any fact if it's missing.
